Meski berbahan baja anti-karat, sendok dan garpu tidak bisa bebas 100 persen dari karat.

1. Sendok garpu stainless punya komposisi berbeda-beda

Ketika belanja di mal, atau supermarket Anda pasti sering melihat tulisan stainless  yang tertera pada belakang gagang sendok, garpu ataupun sumpit. Tulisan yang tertera di belakang ketiganya menjelaskan kepada Anda bahwa bahan bakunya berasal dari baja nirkarat.

Namun komposisi baja nir-karat yang digunakan ternyata berbeda-beda kadarnya. Misalnya, sendok dan garpu dengan komposisi 18/10, artinya mengandung 18 persen kromium dan 10 persen nikel.

Hal sama dapat terjadi jika Anda ingin mencuci sendok dan garpu namun terlebih dahulu merendamnya selama satu hari, kemudian dicuci keesokan harinya. Untuk mencegah karat, Anda harus mencuci sendok garpu setelah digunakan dan segera keringkan.
